Mark Fichandler

Palm Springs: Mark and his husband Paul Travis moved to Palm Springs 20 years ago, to Panga Way in the HTCN.  Their home was recently the HTCNO tour and Mark was on the organizing committee for the HTCNO tour this February.  Mark is also involved in Modernism Week as the curator of the Modern Garden Tour.  He is also closely involved with the Oswit Canyon Trust, which saved Oswit Canyon and recently converted the Mesquite Golf Course into the Prescott Preserve. 

New York/Career: Mark & Paul spend the rest of their time in NYC/Greenwich Village and Southampton, Long Island. After attending Sarah Lawrence College and NYU Film School, Mark worked in non-fiction/documentary TV. He was head of Documentary Acquisitions for National Geographic TV, then became VP of Primetime Program Development at Court TV.  He has also worked at Reader’s Digest Home Entertainment and Executive Produced a number of his own documentary projects. 

After leaving the TV world, Mark starting an interior decorating business working on residential projects in and around NYC and Eastern Long Island. 

He created and currently co-chairs an annual event/fundraiser for the Southampton Arts Center called Architecture and Design. It’s a one day event that each year focuses on one architect or movement relevant to the East End of Long Island.
